What is an Espresso Martini?
First, let's talk about where the Espresso Martini came from and take a look at the story behind how the Espresso Martini was created and what makes it so unique.
The espresso martini was born in London at a bar called the Soho Brasserie by bartender Dick Bradsell. The story goes - a famous model (long rumored to be Naomi Campbell or Kate Moss) asked for a drink that would “wake me up, then fuck me up” which is when he came up with this unique concoction of equal parts coffee and alcohol - both enjoyable and energizing. The model loved it so much she brought her friends back the next day asking for more - turning what was meant as just another night out on the town into something unforgettable!
In 1985 Espresso Martinis were also introduced to the United States, becoming an instant hit in New York City's bar scene. One of the first accounts to serve Espresso Martinis was a restaurant called Serendipity 3, which goes down in history as the birthplace of the Espresso Martini Frappé Cocktail.
Where is the Espresso Martini now?
Today, Espresso Martinis can be found all over the world and many high-end cocktail bars now have their own take on the drink. The espresso martini drink is one of the favorite drinks among party goers. And they sure know how to make them in style by using premium ingredients.
